AGAGU HOSTS ANCOPSS EXECUTIVES, CALLS FOR SYNERGY IN MOVING EDUCATION FORWARD
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Ondo State, Olufemi Agagu FNIVS, on Tuesday, hosted the new Ondo State executives of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, in his office in Akure.
The new state ANCOPSS executives, led by the State Chairman, Pastor Adebayo Sanmi Ajimuda, were on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner to rub minds with him on some salient ways to move the education sector forward in the state.
The Commissioner, while welcoming the new executives to the ministry, solicited their cooperation for the success of government's programmes and policies aimed at moving education to an enviable hight in the state.
He said the determination of government to properly fund the education sector and give the best to the people of the state, informed the introduction of the Ondo State Education Endowment Levy, where every taxable adult is expected to make a voluntary contribution of N1,000 annually.
Mr. Agagu informed the school administrators the the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, is already collaborating with the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service, ODIRS to work the modalities for payment, collection and remittance of the levy.
He said the mode of payment is being made easy as anyone can make his or her contribution from the comfort of his or her house, office or business place through his or her mobile phone and other methods, and urged all taxable residents of the state to be part of the laudable initiative.
The Commissioner urged school administrators in the state to work with the state government in its efforts at curbing examination malpractices and ensuring standard in the sector.
The State ANCOPSS Chairman, Pst. Adebayo Sanmi Ajimuda, who applauded the Ondo State Government for its efforts at repositioning education in state, promised that the new state executives would work towards the successful implementation of government programmes and policies.
He emphasized that examination malpractices remain one of the hardraheaded problems bestriding the education sector in the state, promising that ANCOPSS would do all it could to tackle the monster headlong and bring it under control.
