The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Laolu Akindolire says the state government would soon commence the payment of bursary and scholarships to students of the state origin in all tertiary institutions across the country.

He said the Ondo State Scholarship Board has concluded all the necessary arrangements on the bursary and scholarship award, and already seeking the state Governor's approval, assuring that the Governor, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa would expressly grant the approval soon.

The Commissioner stated this in Akure while meeting with both national and state executives of the National Association of Ondo State Students, NAOSS, an umbrella body for all students in tertiary institutions across the country.

Mr. Akindolire noted that students across the globe constitute a formidable force in any organized society, added that government cannot afford to look the other way when it comes to their welfare and entitlements.

He assured them that the Ondo State Government would always prioritize their needs and encourage excellence among its students across tertiary institutions in the country.

While admonishing the NAOSS leaders to avoid any unnecessary confrontation and rivalry at all times, Mr. Akindolire advised them to always channel their suggestions and complains through the appropriate channels.

He said his office is always open to them, adding that he was ready to entertain their suggestions and look into their demands at any time.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation who is also the NAOSS Global President, Hammed Oyelade has advocated upward review of the scholarship and bursary awards to students of the state origin in tertiary institutions to reflect the present economic situation.

He also implored the state government to provide assistance to graduating students in term of finance or jobs, especially for those graduating with distinctions, to serve as encouragement to others.

Master Oyelade who noted that NAOSS has always been in cordial relationship with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, pledged the loyalty and support of the body to the Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa's administration in the state.
