ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT TRAINS SENIOR EDUCATION OFFICERS ON ETHICAL, PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

 


The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has organized a brainstorming session for it senior professional Officers to expose them to modern ethical principles in the education sector.




The session held in Akure, was also aimed at intimating the senior Education Officers on contemporary acceptable rules and standard of conduct for enhanced effective service delivery.


Addressing the session, the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, said the programme was timely, particularly at a time when the ugly trend of declining ethical values that are undermining the rules of engagement is rampant in the Civil Service.


"Over the time, we have witnessed cases of indiscipline, misconduct and gross abuse of delegated authority among our Officers. Therefore, the need to address these identified gaps and further intimate the senior Officers on standard ethnical practices informed the session"


The Commissioner added that the programme was to enable the senior professional officers brainstorm on some contemporary issues and standard practices to mitigate some observed lapses in the course of executing government businesses.


He tasked the Officers on core values of quality service delivery which he said include punctuality, promptness to official assignments, confidentiality, ethical conduct, examination ethic and lifelong learning among others.


According to him, these qualities and attributes would in turn give the Officers a unique acceptability that would help to enhance trust and confidence of the society.


Mr Akindolire restated the state government's commitment to ensuring Human Capital Development in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) as encapsulated in the REDEEMED Agenda, and commended the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa for supporting the State Civil Service, which he said was the engine room of governance.


While declaring the giant strides of the present administration in making life worthwhile for residents of the state through various programmes and interventions, the Commissioner lauded public servants in the state for conducting themselves properly in manner devoid of partisan politics.


He therefore solicited the support and cooperation of all public servants and other residents of the state in ensuring victory for Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa in the November 16th gubernatorial election in the state.


The session featured lectures and symposium by renowned resource persons to further brush the knowledge of the senior professionals in education on contemporary and standard ethical conduct.
