WE APPROVED CLOUD-BASED EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOLLOWING A REQUEST BY PTA AND ANCOPSS- ONDO COMMISSIONER INSISTS

The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, says the Cloud-Based Education Programme for SS3 students in state public secondary schools was the initiative of the Parent/Teachers Association, PTA and Ondo State Chapter of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS).

The Programme was designed by PTA Ondo State and forwarded to the ministry for approval after both stakeholders (PTA & ANCOPSS) have reached agreement with the provider to pay N4,000 per students but the ministry reduced the amount to N2,700.

The state government however granted the approval following a request by the Parent/Teachers Association PTA and All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools ANCOPSS, considering the potentials of the initiative to enhance the performances of students in external examinations, with the N2,700 paid directly into PTA account and not that of the state government.

The programme, an audio-visual based e-learning initiative was designed to enhance academic performance by making educational materials, including textbooks, audio-visuals materials and past questions and answers, accessible in their softwares regardless of where they live or what device they are using.

The Commissioner while restating the commitment of the State Government to quality and affordable education, noted that the "Cloud-Based Education Programme" has the potential to positively transform the preparation and performance of students in their final examinations, and was only approved for SS3 students in public secondary schools.

He berated the attempt by a particular media organization to malign the state government by misinforming the public that government has imposed additional N2,700 levy on students in the state, insisting that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's administration is passionate about education and would not impose additional or unnecessary levy on parents.

The Commissioner posited that the state government would always adopt genuine initiatives aimed at providing robust and functional education system that will produce highly knowledgeable and high-tech resourceful learners that can stand tall among their counterparts all over the world.

He therefore enjoined media organizations in the state not to always be in a hurry to publish government circulars  but seek clarifications from the appropriate authority to enable them understand the content so that they would not continue to misinform the public.
