Olufunke Fasawe Foundation empowers students in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area.
The Olufunke Fasawe Foundation has empowered indigents but brilliant students across secondary schools in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, as parts of its vision of promoting educational development in Nigeria.
The Foundation, founded a year ago by Dr (Mrs) Olufunke Fasawe, seeks to offer financial supports for educational development through grants for school development as well as scholarships to deserving students.
The initiative was aimed at enhancing learning environments by producing direct supports to students with emphasis on the girl-child and other students, particularly, in areas of science, technology and mathematics.
The Administrative Secretary of the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Dr Akindele Ige, represented at the occasion by a Director in the ministry, Mrs Bosede Akinsanmi, said the development was in tandem with the vision of the Ondo State Government of providing financial assistance to indigents students in the state.
He lauded the founder of the foundation, Dr. (Mrs) Olufunke Fasawe, for her passion in assisting indigent students to achieve their desired dreams, and called on other well-meaning organizations and individuals in the state to emulate her gesture.
The representative of the foundation, Mr Olumide Ayedun, said the Olufunke Fasawe Foundation, was aimed at building the capacity of students through financial supports as well as aiding conducive learning environments through grants to schools.
He said the beneficiaries of the award were selected from across all secondary schools in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area based on their performances and recommendations by their schools.
The Principal of Gboluji Grammar School, Ile-Oluji, where the programme was held, described the gesture as unprecedented, and applauded the owner of the foundation, Dr (Mrs) Olufunke Fasawe for her magnanimity in giving back to the society.
He however called on organizations and individuals with such magnanimity to also consider the teachers who work day and night to shape the future of those children, insisting that they can also get their reward on earth instead of waiting to get it in heaven.
Some parents who spoke at the occasion, lauded Dr (Mrs) Olufunke Fasawe for the gesture, emphasizing that it would go a long way in ameliorating their burdens and boost the morale of the beneficiaries.
A total of 36 students selected from both junior and senior classes across all secondary schools in the local government area, benefited from the programme.
Each beneficiary got direct cash transfer from the foundation to his/her personal account.
