Ondo State Government to conduct coroner's inquest into the death of UNIMED Registrar, Ezekiel Adeniran*

The Ondo State Ministry of Justice has requested for a corona inquest into the death of Mr Ezekiel Imole Adeniran, who died under questionable circumstances on July 17th this year at his private residence in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Mr Adeniran, who until his death was the Registrar, University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo, was found lying unconscious in his compound in the morning and was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical officer.

In a letter to the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Segun Odusola, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Ondo State, Dr Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, said a former enquiry in form of coroner's inquest became warranted to ascertain the cause and manner of his death.

Dr Ajulo noted that the deceased had been widely reported to have died under questionable circumstances, explaining that the the coroner's inquest would determine if any individual may bear criminal responsibility.

He therefore appealed to the Chief Judge of the State to assign a Magistrate within the appropriate jurisdiction to act as a coroner and conduct the inquest in accordance with the Coroners Law of the State.
