Embattled Ondo ADC Chairman calls for immediate reinstatement

‎The embattled Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in Ondo State, Mr Olaide Rasheed, has described his purported removal from office as unconstitutional and an abuse of party procedure.

‎Speaking at a press briefing held at the NUJ Press Centre, Alagbaka, Akure, Olaide.Rasheed said he was unilaterally removed from office on November 28, 2024, by the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Raphael Nwosu without convenenig a state congress.

‎He explained that his removal from office, which did not follow due process, was based on allegations that he was fraternising with another political party, a claim which he vehemently denied.

‎ According to him, he represented a gubernatorial candidate of the party, the ADC, at a peace meeting with candidates of other political parties and should not be counted against him as anti-party activity since it was with the consent of the candidate.

‎Olaide maintained that the National Chairman of the party lacks the constitutional power to unilaterally remove as an elected state chairman of the party without a properly conducted state congress.

‎While describing his alleged removal as illegal and against party convention, Olaide Rasheed called for his immediate and unconditional reinstatement as Chairman of the party in Ondo State.

‎He warned that failure to reverse the decision could further deepen the crisis within the Ondo State chapter of the party as he might be compelled to seek legal action.
