ICAN Confers Western Zone Ambassador Award on Chief Bunmi Alade, MBA, FCTI, FCA
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has conferred the prestigious Western Zone Ambassador Award on Chief Bunmi Alade, MBA, FCTI, FCA, in recognition of his outstanding, selfless, and long-standing contributions to the growth and development of the Institute within the Western Zone.
The award was presented during the 2026 ICAN Western Zonal Conference, held on Friday, 6th February 2026, at the Highpoint Event Centre, CBD Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Presenting the award, the 61st President of ICAN, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, mni, Ph.D, FCA, commended Chief Bunmi Alade for his dedication, consistency, and impactful service to the Institute over the years.
He specifically appreciated the various strategic positions and responsibilities Chief Alade has held within the Western Zone of the conference.
The ICAN President noted that Chief Alade had distinguished himself not only within the Institute but also in the Public Service, where his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to excellence have remained exemplary.
He described the award as a well-deserved recognition of a lifetime of service and leadership.
Chief Bunmi Alade, MBA, FCTI, FCA, described the honour as unique and unprecedented, noting that it will serve as strong motivation to continue contributing meaningfully to the advancement of ICAN and the accounting profession at both zonal and national levels.
He expressed profound appreciation to the ICAN leadership and Council members for finding him worthy of the recognition and for their continuous efforts in upholding the standards of the accounting profession in Nigeria.
Chief Alade also acknowledged the invaluable support and goodwill of the Institute’s benefactor, Sir Oluwatobi Abiola, mni, Ph.D, FCA, and Otunba Biodun Adedeji, FCA, whose roles he described as instrumental to the success of the Western Zone and the honour bestowed on him.
He further commended the leadership of the ICAN Western Zone, led by the Zone Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Semiu, FCA, and the Conference Chairman, Alhaji Kolawole Bisiriyu, Ph.D, FCA, alongside other principal officers, district chairmen, and members of the Zone.
Chief Alade also expressed deep gratitude to members of his primary constituency, the Akure and District Society, under the leadership of the District Chairman, Mr. E. A. Oke, FCA, and the Chairman, Committee of Past Chairmen, Sir J. S. O. Adeniyi, FCA, for their unwavering support over the years.
He acknowledged that the numerous leadership opportunities entrusted to him by the Institute including serving as Conference Director for five consecutive years, Conference Treasurer, Zonal Treasurer, Zonal Secretary, Conference Adviser, among other strategic roles, enabled him to contribute effectively to the growth of ICAN at the zonal level, culminating in the conferment of the Ambassador Award.
Chief Alade reaffirmed his commitment to continue flying the flag of ICAN high and to serve the Institute with renewed dedication, integrity, professionalism, and mentorship of younger members.
