ONDO GOVT PARTNERS PROFESSIONAL BODIES TO RESTRAIN BUILDING COLLAPSE*

The Ondo State Government has indicated its readiness to partner with organizations, relevant professional bodies and other stakeholders to regulate construction of buildings in the state with a view to preventing incessant collapse being experienced in other states of the federation. The state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Gbenga Olaniyi, stated this while playing host to the Executives of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Ondo State chapter, during a courtesy call on him in his office in Akure.   Concerned Revolutionary Youths, the organizers of EndBadGovernanceinNigeria has pulled out of planned protest in Ondo State. The planned nationwide protest scheduled to begin tomorrow, was to enable Nigerians register their grievances against the harsh economic situation occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu led administration. Briefing newsmen on the decision to pull out the planned protest, the leader of the group in Ondo State, Mr Ogundipe Seyi Olaniyi, said the decision followed the interventions of prominent indigenes of the state. Ondo Govt creates Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department in the ministry of education to expose students to necessary skills*

  The Ondo State Government has created a new session, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, to expose learners to necessary skills, knowledge and practical experience that can make them self-reliant after leaving school. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire at a meeting with the Permanent Secretary and Directors in the the ministry, explained that the intent of the state government was to stimulate the potentials and skills of students in the state public secondary schools by building in them entrepreneurial mindsets that can make them self-reliant after Secondary School education.   The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire says government establishments in the education sector of the state must harmonize all the assisted programmes for effective coordination and benefit of students. The Commissioner maintained that agencies and parastatals in the education sector of the state should involve  the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in all assisted programmes to avoid duplication and overlap. Lawyer writes police over attempt to grab Apostolic Faith Church land in Ondo*

An Akure based legal practitioner, Mr. John Olowokere has sought the intervention of the Ondo State Police Command over a attempt by land grabbers to convert a parcel of land belonging to the Apostolic Faith Church to personal use. The parcel of land, located at the GRA, Alagbaka extension, was acquired some years ago by the Apostolic Faith Church for establishment of a secondary school. In his letter to the Ondo State Police Command, Mr John Olowookere, stated that the land was purchased sometimes in 2013 and that the church had already commenced construction work on the site. He explained that one of the family members that sold the land to the church eleven years ago, started using armed thugs to forcefully eject the church from the land and illegally transfer the same property to new buyers. Ondo Government urged students of the state origin to apply for the Federal Government Students Loan Scheme, NELFUND*

The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire has urged indigent students of the state in tertiary institutions across the country to urgently apply for the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, NELFUND. The Commissioner, while speaking in Akure, said the State Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa urged every indigent student of the state to benefit from the Federal Government Loan Scheme meant for students in tertiary institutions across the country. Mr. Akindolire directed that students should log on to the loan portal:  https://portal.nelf.gov.ng  to register for the fund. The Nigeria Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, was introduced by the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. and passed into law in June 2023, to ensure that no Nigerian student is denied access to education by providing succour to students in payment of school fees.
