Ondo public school wins Nigeria Mathematics and Science Olympiad competition, set to represent Nigeria in Iran

Two students of Saint Joseph's College Ondo, Ondo State, have emerged the First and Third respectively in Physics at the Nigeria Mathematics and Science Olympiad Competition held in Abuja. The students, Master Akinkpelumi Samuel, an SS2 students beat other contestants from across the states of the federation to come first in Physics  while Master Bamidele Raymond, a JSS3 student competed with other senior secondary students to come third. The Principal of Saint Joseph's College, Ondo, Mr. Olabisi Omotayo, while presenting the students to the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, said 108 schools across the country participated in the competition.  According to him, Ondo was the only state represented by a public school and Saint Joseph's College, Ondo, remained the only public secondary school that participated in the competition.   The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire says the state government would come up with a deliberate policy to assist indigent and less privileged children in the state acquire basic education. The Commissioner while receiving the traditional council of Olu-Ijoka in Akure South Local Government area of the state emphasized that lack of basic education among the children portends serious threat to the country both now and in the future. The Education Commissioner identified high level of illiteracy due to lack of basic primary and secondary education as mainly responsible for the pockets of insurgence and other criminal acts in different parts of Nigeria, adding that government can no longer feign ignorance of the danger such situation portends. ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENCES ITS 2024 STATE EXAMINATIONS.

  The 2024 Ondo State Examinations commence tomorrow, Saturday 22rd June, with the Common Entrance Examination into the Ondo State Unity Secondary Schools. The  entrance examination is to enable the state ministry of Education, Science and Technology, select candidates for admission into the five government owned Unity Secondary Schools across the state. A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Science, and Technology, Mrs. Folasade Adegoke enjoined candidates taking part in the examination to be at the designated centres across the state by (8:00am) eight o'clock in the morning. The statement also enjoined parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards get to the examination centres early enough with their registration slips and writing materials.
