Ondo SUBEB Lauds Impact of Jolly Phonics Programme on Literacy Development in primary schools‎

‎ The Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, has expressed satisfaction with the positive impact of the Jolly Phonics programme on literacy development in public primary schools across the state, following a recent monitoring exercise on spelling and pronunciation activities. ‎ ‎During the monitoring exercise, the Chairman observed that the programme has significantly strengthened pupils’ foundational literacy skills, particularly in reading, spelling and pronunciation. ‎ ‎He noted that the improvement recorded is evident, and reflects the effectiveness of the phonics-based teaching approach on the pupil. ‎ ‎Rt. The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, has ordered the immediate and indefinite closure of St. Louis Primary School, Ondo, in the Ondo West Local Government Area of the state  The Commissioner, while handing down the order, stated that the drastic measure became necessary following the school’s persistent non-compliance and flagrant disregard for state guidelines governing private educational institutions He said the  decision was  part of the  ongoing commitment of government to ensure that all private schools operate within the legal framework of the state.  He emphasized that the closure will remain in effect until the school demonstrates full compliance with government regulations and acknowledges the state's oversight authority.
