Ondo SUBEB Lauds Impact of Jolly Phonics Programme on Literacy Development in primary schools
The Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, has expressed satisfaction with the positive impact of the Jolly Phonics programme on literacy development in public primary schools across the state, following a recent monitoring exercise on spelling and pronunciation activities. During the monitoring exercise, the Chairman observed that the programme has significantly strengthened pupils’ foundational literacy skills, particularly in reading, spelling and pronunciation. He noted that the improvement recorded is evident, and reflects the effectiveness of the phonics-based teaching approach on the pupil. Rt. Hon. Olabimtan stated that pupils now demonstrate a better understanding of letter sounds and word formation, compared to the period before the introduction of Jolly Phonics programme.
