33rd CONVOCATION CEREMONY OF FUTA, AKEREDOLU LAUDS THE VISION OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS, SCORES THE INSTITUTION HIGH.


The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN CON, has lauded the vision of the founding fathers of the Federal University of Technology, FUTA, Akure saying it has greatly contributed to the development of science and Technology within and outside the country.


At the 33rd Convocation Ceremony of the institution in Akure, the Governor also gave kudos to both the past and present management teams of the university for their commitment to quality and affordable education in the country.


Represented by the Commissioner, Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olufemi Agagu FNIVS,  the Governor said FUTA has continued to maintain its enviable reputation for academic excellence, thereby producing graduates who are consistently equipped with requisite knowledge and skills to excel in their chosen fields.


Arakunrin Akeredolu noted that FUTA's commitment to provide quality education and ensuring that students are well groomed for the demands of the professional world at affordable costs are highly commendable.


"I congratulate the Management Teams of the University, both past and present for the grace to witness the dividends of their years of labour and investment geared towards uplifting  the standard of education, by making it accessible and affordable to the citizens, most especially in this environment. It is however, our hope that the university will continue to strive to achieve excellence and also reach an enviable position among it's contemporaries in the country "


While congratulating the graduands, comprising Post Graduates Diplomas, Masters and PhD holders, the Governor reminded them that greater achievements always come with greater responsibilities, and enjoined them to embrace the spirit of life-long learning, intellectual curiosity and critical thinking.


"Continue to push the boundaries of knowledge, seek innovative solutions and strive for excellence in all your endeavors. As you assume the position of influence and leadership, let integrity, ethical conduct and social responsibility guide your conduct "


Akeredolu who also congratulated the FUTA Management Team on the recent approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC), for the university to run Medicine and Surgery, and other medical science programmes, however reminded the institution that all  organizations and individuals in the state have a collective duty to harness it's potentials and resources to create a sustainable and prosperous future for the people.


Earlier, in her address, the Vice Chancellor of the Instruction, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji had acknowledged the development strides of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the state, especially in the education sector.


She noted  that the symbiotic relationship between the Ondo State Government and the Federal University of Technology, FUTA, Akure, has been warm-hearted and beneficial to the institution, and hoped that such seamless relationship continues.


She also thanked immensely, the cooperation and magnimity of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, especially in his role in acquiring the land for the construction of the School of medicine and medical sciences along Owo-Akure road.

After Decades of Interregnum, Ondo Government to Appoint Justices of the Peace (JP)* ‎

‎The Ondo State Government has finalised plans to appoint the title of Justices of the Peace (JP) among qualified individuals across the state. ‎ ‎This initiative follows the approval earlier this year by Governor Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the selection and appointment of qualified individuals to hold the office pursuant to Section 12 (f) of the Magistrates’ Courts Law of Ondo State, Cap. 90. ‎ ‎Dr Olukayode Ajulo, OON, SAN, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, noted that this approval marks the end of an interregnum lasting more than a decade. ‎ ‎This initiative is part of Governor Aiyedatiwa's efforts to strengthen grassroots justice and reinforce the rule of law throughout the state. ‎ ‎The Attorney General mentioned that applicants for offices have been screened, and those who met the required qualifications have been shortlisted and submitted to the Governor for final approval. ‎ ‎He emphasised that the individuals nominated repres...

Joint SS2 Promotion Exams; Ondo State Government reshedules three papers earlier slated for tomorrow*

The Ondo State Government has postponed the papers scheduled for tomorrow in the ongoing SS2 Promotion Examination in all secondary schools across the state. A statement by the Head, Information & Media, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Olaoluwa Meshack, says postponement of the three papers became imperative due to the public holiday declared by the Federal Government tomorrow. The Federal Government had declared tomorrow Tuesday 15th July, 2025, a public holiday to mourn the former Nigeria President, General Mohammad Buhari, who passed on yesterday in a hospital in London. The three papers; English Language, Commerce and Woodwork, were earlier scheduled to hold tomorrow across all secondary schools in the state but had to be rescheduled in compliance with the Federal Government directive.
