YOU ARE A CRITICAL STAKEHOLDER IN EDUCATION, AKINDOLIRE TELLS ANCOPSS.

The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Laolu Akindolire, has described the All National Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, as critical stakeholder whose activities have consequential impacts on the education sector.

The Commissioner while meeting with Executives of Ondo State ANCOPSS in Akure, described members of the conference as major stakeholders and partners capable of driving the policies and programmes of government for the overall development of the education industry in the state.

Mr. Akindolire informed the school administrators that the state government would not compromise the high educational standard for which the state is known, and urged them to ensure that their students get nothing less than the best.

He tasked them to be good mentors and role models to their students and as well work harmoniously with government and examination bodies towards curbing malpractices during both internal and external examinations.

While explaining that appointment of Principals is strictly by merit, the Commissioner frowned at the insistence of some schools, especially the Old Students Association and Parents/Teachers Association, on making the old students principals, saying such does not conform with standard practice.

The Commissioner also frowned at the situation where some teachers parade themselves as annionted successors even when the substanssive principal is yet to retire from office, insisting that such situation is not healthy for the system.

Mr. Akindolire commended the school heads for their commitment and dedication to duty, and urged them to always send their requests to government on time so that appropriate actions can be taken.

The State ANCOPSS Chairman, Pastor Adebayo Sanmi Ajimuda applauded the Ondo State Government for its efforts at repositioning education in state,  and promised that the new state executives of the conference would work towards the successful implementation of government programmes and policies.

Pastor Ajimuda who mphasized that examination malpractices remain one of the hardraheaded problems bestriding the education sector in the state, promising that ANCOPSS would do all it could to tackle the monster headlong and bring it under control.
