Lawyer writes police over attempt to grab Apostolic Faith Church land in Ondo*




An Akure based legal practitioner, Mr. John Olowokere has sought the intervention of the Ondo State Police Command over a attempt by land grabbers to convert a parcel of land belonging to the Apostolic Faith Church to personal use.

The parcel of land, located at the GRA, Alagbaka extension, was acquired some years ago by the Apostolic Faith Church for establishment of a secondary school.

In his letter to the Ondo State Police Command, Mr John Olowookere, stated that the land was purchased sometimes in 2013 and that the church had already commenced construction work on the site.

He explained that one of the family members that sold the land to the church eleven years ago, started using armed thugs to forcefully eject the church from the land and illegally transfer the same property to new buyers.

According to him, the family member has forcefully removed some building materials, mainly iron rods brought to the site for the school building project by the church.

He appealed to security agents and the state government to wade into the matter to save the church from intimidation and unlawful usurpation it's land by the grabbers and barr the family member from further trespassing on the land.

"To the consternation and chagrin of our client, while the case is still pending before the court of law and the parties are admonished to maintain status quo ante, the suspect and his organised armed thugs stealthily and surreptitiously went to the site to steal all the 18mm iron rods used by our Client for the foundation of some classrooms building at the site.

"And all attempt made by our Client to stop the actions of the suspect was met with naked violence as the suspect and his organised armed thugs attempted to kidnap, maim, and murder our Clients in the process and they escaped only by a whisker.

As at now the suspect is stil selling our Client's land to unsuspecting members of the public who are presently carrying out massive development on the land against the order of the court.

He therefore appealed to the police and other authorities to intervene by taking immediate actions on the matter to prevent avoidable violence and breakdown of law as Apostolic Faith Church is known for peace all over the world.

Joint SS2 Promotion Exams; Ondo State Government reshedules three papers earlier slated for tomorrow*

The Ondo State Government has postponed the papers scheduled for tomorrow in the ongoing SS2 Promotion Examination in all secondary schools across the state. A statement by the Head, Information & Media, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Olaoluwa Meshack, says postponement of the three papers became imperative due to the public holiday declared by the Federal Government tomorrow.
