ONDO GOVERNMENT TO REACTIVATE NON-FUNCTIONAL BOREHOLES ACROSS THE STATE.

 


The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, has directed the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) to assess the functionality of all water schemes across the state with the aim of reactivating them.

Commissioner for Water Resources, Public Sanitation, and Hygiene, Mr Sunday Akinwalire, in compliance with the directive, was on assessment  visit to the KAJOLA community in ODIGBO LGA, along with his team to evaluate the KAMOMI water scheme.

Mr Akinwalire explained that the directive by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to activate non-functional boreholes across the state was to enable residents have access to clean and potable water.

The Commissioner noted that the KAMOMI water scheme, which is entirely solar-powered, has been operational since December, 2020 and has consistently served the KAJOLA community.

While urging the community to protect the water scheme jealously by treating it as their personal property, Mr Akinwalire also enjoined them to guide against vandalism or major damage and ensure the water remains hygienic.

He announced that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the rehabilitation of additional non-functional boreholes throughout the state as part of his administration's commitment to enhancing public health and safety.

The General Manager of RUWASSA, Engr. Rotimi Oladimeji, noted that the water scheme was part of the second phase of the KAMOMI project, completed in 2020 and handed over to the community.

According to him, an 8-man committee named WASHCOM, including technical personnel such as a plumber and an electrician, was formed during the handing over to ensure proper maintenance and sustainability of the water scheme.

The community-based manager, Mr. Adedeji Gafar, who guided the Commissioner and his team round the control room, said all the five control switches remain intact and functional, and expressed gratitude to the Ondo State Government on behalf of the KAJOLA Community Youths.

Other residents of KAJOLA community expressed their appreciations to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and RUWASSA for their continued support and follow-up, declaring the state government’s efforts as exceptional.

Joint SS2 Promotion Exams; Ondo State Government reshedules three papers earlier slated for tomorrow*

The Ondo State Government has postponed the papers scheduled for tomorrow in the ongoing SS2 Promotion Examination in all secondary schools across the state. A statement by the Head, Information & Media, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Olaoluwa Meshack, says postponement of the three papers became imperative due to the public holiday declared by the Federal Government tomorrow. The Federal Government had declared tomorrow Tuesday 15th July, 2025, a public holiday to mourn the former Nigeria President, General Mohammad Buhari, who passed on yesterday in a hospital in London.
