Ondo Government restates ban on use of handsets by students during school hours, lauds conduct of ongoing WASCE.
The Ondo State Government says the ban on use of handset within school premises by students during school hours is still in force throughout the State.
The Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Dr Akindele Ige, stated this while monitoring the on-going West Africa School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, in Akure and environs.
The Administrative Secretary, accompanied by the Director Inspectorate and Quality Assurance, Mr Oluwadayiro Obajulaye, and other officials of the ministry, expressed satisfaction with the compliance of both students and officials with WAEC rules and regulations during the examination.
He emphasized that the ban placed on the use of handset by school children within the school premises during official hours or during examinations was still in force, adding that government will not hesitate to invoke appropriate sanctions on any erring student.
The Administrative Secretary also declared that the state government seriously frowned at examination malpractices under whatever guise and urged students to always prepare themselves for every examination instead of trying to indulge in unwholesome practices.
Dr. Ige, who is also an educationist, enjoined parents to always impact positively on their children and wards by encouraging them to shun hooliganism, thuggery, examination malpractices or cultism, among others.
He therefore cautioned students across the state against hooliganism or disrespecting their tutors, urging them to see their teachers as role models who are working hard to reshape their future for better.
