Protecting the rights of the child, our administration's key priority - Ondo Attorney General, Kayode Ajulo.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo says every citizen holds the obligation to support child protection laws and uphold policies that protect children's rights and shield them against any form of physical or mental abuse.
The Commissioner, while playing host to members of the State Child rights Implementation Committee, said Ondo State domesticated the Child's Rights Act in 2007, and has since then tailored its policies and programmes towards protecting the rights of children.
Dr. Ajulo noted that the plight of children in Ondo State is well captured in the seven-point 'OUR EASE' Agenda of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa's Administration through provision of essential services, enforcing legal protections against abuse and exploitation of children, and ensuring access to education, healthcare, among others
He commended members of the state Child Rights Implementation Committee for the good works they have been doing across the state, and assured that Ondo State Government remained committed to policies that safeguard children's rights.
The state Attorney General therefore enjoined the Committee not to hesitate to contact his office for intervention whenever the need arises, noting that every child deserved protection in the society.
The head of the committee and the State Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mrs Mogboruko Olanike, said the purpose of the visit was to seek understanding of the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the State Attorney General in ensuring effective implementation of the Child Rights Law in Ondo State.
Mrs Mogboruko while explaining the functions and achievements of the committee, called for more government collaboration, especially in updating and implementing the child right law in the state.
She also pleaded for the allocation of more resources to the Child Rights Implementation Committee, creation of Child Rights Desk in Ministries and Agencies, providing more access to education, healthcare and protection.
Mrs Mogboruko however thanked the Ondo State Government for domesticating the child rights act and for its various policies aimed at protecting the rights of children in the state
